Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Clinical Coding Analyst to join our team at King's College Hospital NHS Foundation Trust. As a key member of our coding department, you will play a pivotal role in ensuring the accuracy and quality of our clinical coding data.

Main Responsibilities
  • Code clinical data with high accuracy and attention to detail, adhering to national rules and conventions.
  • Mentor and support less experienced clinical coding analysts to ensure seamless workflow and knowledge transfer.
  • Liaise with the Clinical Coding Manager to confirm appropriate diagnostic and procedure codes where national guidance is unclear.
  • Promote awareness and understanding of the clinical coding process and identify service improvements.
  • Demonstrate a high understanding of the importance of Data Quality, Data Protection, PBR, and HRGs.
Requirements
  • NCCQ qualification or equivalent.
  • Experience of working in clinical coding in a large organization.
  • Experience of delivering to deadlines.
  • Extensive medical terminology and anatomy and physiology knowledge.
  • Excellent understanding of PbR and HRGs.
  • Experience of using Medicode.
  • Familiarity with electronic patient records (EPIC).
  • Clinical engagement and validation.
Skills and Abilities
  • Evidence of motivating and influencing other healthcare professionals.
  • Strong organizational skills.
  • Ability to analyze and interpret complex medical information.
  • Ability to work independently.
  • Intermediate-level keyboard skills, proficiency in Excel and Word, and experience with Microsoft Teams.
