About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and compassionate Healthcare Support Worker to join our Acute Theatre Team at York and Scarborough Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assist in the preparation and care of patients before and after surgery, ensuring their safety and well-being.
  • Apply and monitor patient vital signs, maintaining accurate records and reporting any concerns to the theatre team.
  • Act as a theatre runner, setting up and maintaining sterile equipment, and ensuring a safe and clean environment for patients.
  • Support the theatre team in maintaining a high standard of patient care, adhering to trust policies and procedures.
  • Develop and maintain strong relationships with patients, families, and colleagues, promoting a positive and respectful work environment.
Requirements
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment.
  • Detailed understanding of the role of a Healthcare Support Worker, with a commitment to delivering high-quality patient care.
  • Awareness of the importance of patient advocacy, confidentiality, and data protection.
  • Ability to work as part of a team, supporting colleagues and contributing to a positive and respectful work environment.
