Toolmaker Job Description
**Essential Duties and Responsibilities**
As a skilled Toolmaker, you will be responsible for producing new jigs, fixtures, form tools, and general tooling to meet engineering specifications. This will involve working closely with Tooling Engineers and Manufacturing Engineers to provide cost-effective and efficient tooling solutions.
**Key Responsibilities Include:**
• Producing new jigs, fixtures, form tools, and general tooling to meet engineering specifications
• Maintaining, repairing, and improving existing jigs, fixtures, form tools, and general tooling
• Collaborating with Tooling Engineers and Manufacturing Engineers to provide cost-effective and efficient tooling solutions
• Providing toolroom support to the maintenance department
• Supporting Production by reacting effectively to breakdowns
• Reporting issues to the Toolroom Supervisor or directly to stakeholders when required
• Providing input into the quotation process
**Toolmaker Experience and Skills**
To be successful in this role, you will need to possess the following skills and experience:
• Be fully competent using manual lathes for turning details up to 1 meter diameter
• Be fully competent using manual machines, including but not limited to milling machines, radial arm drills, surface, and cylindrical grinders
• Hold all required hand/bench skills for jig and tool manufacture and maintenance
• Computer Numerical Control (CNC) operation and programming
• Demonstrated experience of interpreting and understanding engineering drawings
• Demonstrated experience of producing parts to tight tolerances
