About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Specialty Doctor in Psychiatry to join our team at Sheffield Health and Social Care NHS Foundation Trust. As a key member of our multidisciplinary team, you will be responsible for providing high-quality medical care to patients with severe mental health disorders.

Key Responsibilities
  • Attend ward team meetings and provide medical leadership to the multidisciplinary team.
  • Conduct medical/psychiatric assessments for care planning and risk assessment.
  • Develop and deliver appropriate pharmacological and psychological interventions to aid recovery.
  • Assess patients detained under the Mental Health Act and attend Tribunal hearings.
  • Complete administrative tasks necessary for clinical responsibilities.
  • Write Mental Health Review Tribunal Reports and reports to other agencies.
  • Liaise with members of other teams to transfer patients into and out of inpatient services.
  • Attend CPA reviews and pre-discharge planning meetings.
  • Provide clinical supervision to junior medical staff and teach undergraduate medical students.

Requirements
  • MBBS or equivalent medical qualification.
  • Fully registered with the GMC with a licence to practice.
  • Section MHA 1983 approved.
  • Experience in General Adult Psychiatry with at least four years full-time postgraduate training (or equivalent).
  • Wide range of experience relevant to the post within the NHS or comparable services.
  • Evidence of experience in medical audit and understanding of principles of clinical governance.
