Bristol, Bristol, United Kingdom University Hospitals Bristol and Weston NHS Foundation Trust Full time

Overview

At University Hospitals Bristol and Weston NHS Foundation Trust, we value the importance of a balanced work-life dynamic. We encourage applicants to discuss potential flexible working arrangements that can help integrate professional responsibilities with personal commitments.

We are particularly eager to receive applications from candidates belonging to Black, Asian, and minority ethnic backgrounds, as we strive to enhance representation within our Trust.

About the Role

We are actively seeking innovative and passionate General Practitioners (GPs) to participate in a groundbreaking initiative designed to cultivate GPwER (General Practitioners with Extended Roles) in the field of gastroenterology.

This role offers a comprehensive 24-month training program aimed at fostering the development of multiple GPwERs in gastroenterology throughout the southwest region. No prior gastroenterology experience is necessary to qualify for this position. You will collaborate with a gastroenterologist at your local facility, dedicating one session per week to outpatient clinics, where you will gain hands-on experience in managing patients with various gastrointestinal concerns in a supportive and supervised setting.

In addition to practical training, we will provide a structured educational program that includes monthly learning sessions and guided independent study. Our goal is to establish a vibrant community of GPwERs in gastroenterology across the South-West, facilitating the exchange of experiences, training, resources, and innovative practices. The overarching aim of this initiative is to enhance the role of GPwERs across both primary and secondary care, addressing gastroenterology waiting lists and pathways while fostering fulfilling and dynamic career opportunities.
