About the Role

We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Finance System Implementation and Project Manager to lead the implementation of our brand-new financial system. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for planning, leading, and managing the end-to-end implementation process, ensuring that the system is thoroughly tested, delivered on time, within scope, and on budget.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead the implementation process, overseeing all aspects of the project lifecycle, from planning to post-go-live support.
  • Proactively identify, manage, and mitigate project risks and issues, ensuring that the project stays on track and meets its objectives.
  • Collaborate with all stakeholders, including finance staff, department heads, and senior management, to gain a deep understanding of current systems, processes, and needs, and to identify areas for improvement.
  • Implement new processes and controls, documenting all business requirements, processes, and workflows, and configuring the system to meet best practice in terms of local government financial accounting and end-user requirements.
  • Track project progress and provide regular reports to stakeholders, ensuring that everyone is informed and engaged throughout the project.
  • Oversee the project, assigning tasks, personally undertaking tasks to ensure smooth data transfer and set up, monitoring progress, and providing guidance and support to staff.
  • Plan and manage the successful migration of historical data from the old system to the new system, ensuring that all data is accurate and up-to-date.
  • Manage user training and change management initiatives to facilitate system adoption, ensuring that all staff are equipped to use the new system effectively.
Requirements

We are looking for a highly motivated and experienced individual with a strong background in finance and IT project management. The ideal candidate will have:

  • Proven experience in managing large IT projects, with a track record of success in delivering projects on time, within budget, and to the required quality standards.
  • Strong knowledge of financial management principles and practices, with the ability to bridge the gap between technical aspects of the system and real-world financial processes.
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to build strong relationships with stakeholders at all levels.
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment, juggling multiple tasks and tackling complex challenges head-on.
  • Experience working in a public sector environment, with a good understanding of the unique needs and regulations of local government finance.
