Position Overview

We are seeking a dedicated and skilled Biomedical Scientist to join our team at Dorset Clinical Commissioning Group. In this role, you will play a crucial part in delivering a high-quality, ISO 9001 accredited radiotherapy service.

Main Responsibilities

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Collaborating with a multi-disciplinary team to perform external beam treatment planning and brachytherapy planning using advanced software tools.
  • Contributing to the training and development of PTP apprentices, STPs, and other staff members involved in treatment planning.

Person Specification

Qualifications

Essential Criteria

  • A degree in Science or Therapy Radiography or an equivalent qualification (e.g., BSc, DCR(T), HND/HNC with relevant experience).
  • Current registration as a Radiographer with the Health Professions Council or membership in the Register of Technologists.

Desirable Criteria

  • Completion of MSc or relevant MSc modules related to treatment planning.

Experience

Essential Criteria

  • Proven experience in treatment planning.
  • Experience working within the field of radiotherapy.
  • Familiarity with advanced 3D conformal and IMRT/VMAT treatment planning techniques.

Desirable Criteria

  • Specialized knowledge of computerized treatment planning systems, including their algorithms and strengths/weaknesses.
  • Experience with SABR treatment planning.
  • Proficiency in using Eclipse software.

Knowledge

Essential Criteria

  • A comprehensive understanding of radiotherapy planning methodologies.
