About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Psychologist to join our Learning Disability and Autism Team at Southern Health NHS Foundation Trust. As a key member of our multi-disciplinary team, you will play a vital role in providing specialist psychological expertise to support the complex mental health and behavioral needs of children and young people with learning disabilities and/or Autism.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide specialist psychological assessments and interventions to clients across the full range of care settings, including outpatient, community, primary care, and inpatient settings.
  • Work collaboratively with other professionals to develop and implement effective treatment plans and interventions.
  • Contribute to the development and implementation of policies and procedures related to the care and treatment of clients with learning disabilities and Autism.
  • Provide clinical supervision and training to junior staff members.
  • Participate in quality improvement initiatives and contribute to the development of best practices in the field of learning disability and Autism.
Requirements
  • Doctoral level training in applied psychology, including models of psychopathology, clinical psychometrics, two or more distinct psychological therapies, and lifespan developmental psychology, approved by the Health and Care Professions Council (HPCP).
  • Experience of specialist psychological assessment and treatment of clients across the full range of care settings, including outpatient, community, primary care, and inpatient settings.
  • Experience of working with people with learning disabilities and other complex needs within a multi-disciplinary setting.
  • Doctoral level knowledge of research methodology, research design, and complex, multivariate data analysis as practiced within the clinical fields of psychology.
  • Experience of teaching, training, and/or supervision.
  • Experience or demonstrable knowledge of working with the particular client group served by the team/service.
  • Knowledge of guidance and legislation in relation to the client group and mental health.
  • High level of knowledge and skills in neuropsychology and evidence of further practice and/or training since qualification.
  • Formal training in supervision of other psychologists.
  • Evidence of continuing professional development as required by the HPC.
