Clinical Psychologist in Paediatric Psychology

We are seeking an experienced Clinical Psychologist to join our Paediatric Psychology Service in North Devon. As a Band 7 Clinical Psychologist, you will be responsible for providing high-quality psychological care to children and young people experiencing significant and complex mental health difficulties and their families.
You will work collaboratively with our multidisciplinary team to develop and implement evidence-based interventions, and contribute to the development of our service. You will have regular clinical supervision and separate line management, and will be supported with a job plan and opportunities to develop supervision and leadership skills.
The Paediatric Psychology Service aims to support children and young people to manage the psychological impact of living with a physical health diagnosis as part of their paediatrician-led care. Key objectives include reduced levels of distress associated with the medical condition and/or treatment, adjustment to living with a health condition, improved quality of life, and collaborative working to improve treatment adherence and active participation in health management.
Key Responsibilities- Provide high-quality psychological care to children and young people experiencing significant and complex mental health difficulties and their families.
- Work collaboratively with our multidisciplinary team to develop and implement evidence-based interventions.
- Contribute to the development of our service, including the development of policies and procedures.
- Provide regular clinical supervision and separate line management.
- Develop and implement a job plan and opportunities to develop supervision and leadership skills.
- Work collaboratively with other agencies to ensure the safety of young people and promote anti-discriminatory practice.
We are looking for a Clinical Psychologist with:
- A Professional Doctorate in Clinical Psychology or equivalent.
- Experience of working collaboratively with service users and their families/carers, including using goal-based care and routine outcome measures in practice.
- Experience of working collaboratively in a multi-disciplinary team and across agencies.
- Experience of working with a range of children and young people with complex needs, maintaining a high degree of professionalism in the face of highly emotive and distressing problems and verbal abuse.
- Experience of undertaking specialist psychological assessments and providing evidence-based interventions, with the ability to work with complex needs and undertake risk assessments.
- Experience of providing teaching and training.
- Experience of safeguarding children and ensuring the safety of young people in partnership with other agencies as appropriate.
- Experience that evidences an ability to attend to diversity and work in a way that promotes anti-discriminatory practice.
