Number of Positions: 1

Type: Non-Digital

Contract Duration: 18 months

Work Location: Aldermaston, on-site 3 days a week, no travel required

Key Evaluation Criteria:

1. Proficiency in conducting nuclear hazard analysis (HAZAN):

  1. Design Basis Assessment
  2. Unmitigated dose evaluations
  3. Assessments for safety function classification
  4. Classification derivation for required safety systems
  5. Knowledge of protection methods and their substantiation

2. Hazard Identification expertise.

3. Experience in managing safety cases.

Essential Qualifications:

  • Expertise in Hazard Identification

Utilization of hazard identification techniques and development of hazard and fault schedules.

Experience in nuclear hazard analysis (HAZAN):

• Design Basis Assessment

• Unmitigated dose evaluations

• Safety function classification assessments

• Classification derivation for necessary safety systems

• Understanding of protection methods and their justification

  • Experience in writing nuclear safety cases
  • Background in nuclear safety assessments
  • Experience in a highly regulated environment
  • Ability to produce technical safety case documentation
  • Experience in managing delivery partners with strong stakeholder engagement skills

• Gravitas to command attention

• Confidence to assert when necessary

  • Understanding of ALARP principles
  • Capability to develop and present a safety case
  • Awareness of environmental considerations
  • Experience in management of deliverables (no direct people management)
  • Able to follow directives from Line Manager(s)

• Responsible for baseline coverage and accountable to a Programme.

Ability to adhere to client processes, values, and procedures.

Desirable Qualifications:

  • Degree or equivalent in a science or engineering discipline
