This pivotal position will be integrated into our social care framework, directly reporting to the team manager of the Disabled Children's Team (DCT) and collaborating closely with our Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND) colleagues and various services across the council.

Role Overview:
The successful candidate will spearhead the development of social care components within the SEND strategy and Education, Health and Care Plans (EHCPs). This role will involve supporting social care and SEND personnel to foster closer collaboration and teamwork. The DSCO will serve as a vital source of expert guidance on SEND matters within the social care sector, enhancing cross-service collaboration to achieve better outcomes for children receiving social care with SEND support.
The ideal candidate will possess the ability to influence others, cultivate and maintain effective relationships, and work collaboratively with a diverse range of stakeholders in the local community. This position will be embedded within the Disabled Children's Team, where you will be part of a supportive management group responsible for delivering social work services to disabled children, their families, and their broader support networks.

Candidate Requirements:
- A relevant social work qualification
- A minimum of 2 years of social work experience
- Preferably supervisory experience and/or a PEPS qualification

- Understanding of relevant theories and practices in social work
- Proficient IT skills for operating standard electronic systems
- Strong emotional intelligence
