Steer Automotive Group is a leading automotive repair business, known for providing high-quality service and customer satisfaction. We are experiencing continued growth and seeking a motivated and experienced Workshop Controller to join our dynamic team at our Birmingham site.

As a Workshop Controller, you will play a vital role in overseeing the daily operations of our busy workshop. Your responsibilities will encompass ensuring efficient workflow, timely completion of repairs and maintenance, and adherence to the highest quality standards.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Workflow Coordination: Oversee the day-to-day operations of the workshop, ensuring a smooth workflow and timely completion of all repairs and services.
  • Job Allocation: Effectively allocate work to technicians based on their skills and experience, optimizing resource utilization.
  • Quality Control: Ensure that all repairs meet company, manufacturer, and industry standards through rigorous quality checks.
  • Communication: Maintain clear communication between service advisors, technicians, and customers, providing accurate updates on vehicle repair status.
  • Health & Safety: Oversee adherence to all health and safety regulations and safe working practices within the workshop environment.
  • Inventory Management: Manage stock levels, collaborating with the Parts team to order necessary parts and supplies for seamless operations.
  • Staff Training: Train and mentor new staff members, identifying training needs and fostering a positive and productive work environment.
About You:

We are seeking an individual with a strong understanding of the automotive repair industry. You will ideally have supervisory experience and a background as an MET, Panel or Paint Technician from an accident repair background.

Your qualifications should include:

  • A comprehensive understanding of vehicle systems and repairs, backed by significant technical expertise.
  • Excellent organizational and leadership skills.
  • The ability to work effectively under pressure and manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Knowledge of health and safety regulations and risk assessments.
  • Proficiency in using workshop management software and other computer applications.
  • A valid UK driving licence.
