About the Role

Barts Health NHS Trust is seeking a highly skilled and motivated Senior Pharmacy Technician to join our dynamic pharmacy team at the Newham University Hospital. As a key member of the team, you will play a vital role in delivering high-quality patient care and contributing to the development of our pharmacy services.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide leadership and guidance to the pharmacy team, ensuring the effective delivery of medicines management services.
  • Develop and implement systems to enhance the efficiency of our pharmacy services, working closely with the Site Lead Pharmacy Technician and Lead Pharmacy Technicians.
  • Be responsible for providing a Medicines Management service to ward areas, working unsupervised in clinical areas.
  • Day-to-day line management of pharmacy support workers undertaking QCF/NVQ level 2 and 3 and ACPT.
  • Undertake duties and responsibilities as an Accuracy Checking Pharmacy Technician (ACPT).
  • Participate in the recruitment and selection of Pharmacy staff.
  • Provide a patient-facing service to inpatient wards, including the appropriate use and supply of medicines, obtaining medication histories, and communicating discrepancies to relevant healthcare professionals.
  • Consult with patients regarding their medication regimes to optimise medicines and support their understanding of their treatment.

Requirements

  • Level 3 Diploma in Principles and Practice for Pharmacy Technicians or equivalent.
  • Registered as a Pharmacy Technician with the General Pharmaceutical Council (GPhC).
  • Accuracy Checking Pharmacy Technician (ACPT) qualification.
  • HEE LaSE Medicines Optimisation qualification or equivalent.
  • Significant experience as a pharmacy technician, with experience of working in a hospital pharmacy setting and medicines management.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with patients, healthcare professionals, and other stakeholders.
