Network Test & Automation Engineer – Layer 2 & 3 Testing / CISCO

Outside IR35

(£ P/D)

Hybrid – On-site in Bradford x1 every 2 weeks

Network Test & Automation Engineer required for our leading client based in Bradford. The ideal candidate will be skilled in automating tests using suitable frameworks, handling defect management, and providing status reports, with a primary focus on Layer 2 and Layer 3 testing.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop a comprehensive network test automation framework and roadmap, encompassing technologies such as routing, switching, voice, wireless, security, cloud, DNS, and load balancing.
  • Implement Layer 2 networking, including LAGs, spanning tree, control frame tunneling, CoS/QoS, TACACS, SNMP, FTP, SSH, NTP, ACLs, and Layer 2 device configuration and management.
  • Utilize scripting languages like Python and automation frameworks like Selenium and Robot.
  • Standardize the networking environment through automation, including inventory management, templating, provisioning, analysis, auditing/reporting, and resolving discrepancies.
  • Develop tools for comprehensive network monitoring and visibility, including dashboards and visualizations for real-time network state and health.
  • Take ownership of a suite of tools for network management and visibility, with experience in developing scalable on-premises or cloud-based programmatic solutions for managing extensive network environments.
  • Integrate automation with test management platforms like JIRA and Confluence.
  • Possess strong technical knowledge and hands-on experience in Layer 2 Metro Ethernet networks, Layer 3 (preferably Cisco Kit), and SDWAN (Cisco/Versa/Meraki) for management, facilitation, automation, and testing.
  • Experienced with MEF certification, Layer 3 networking, Ixia traffic generators, Cisco IOX, Cisco IOS XR, Ciena SAOS 8.x.x, SAOS 10.x.x, and using Jira for sprint planning, updates, defect management, and Confluence for documentation.
