Job Description

Job Title: Chef

Job Summary:

We are seeking a skilled and experienced Chef to join our team at Nottinghamshire Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust. As a Chef, you will be responsible for preparing and cooking high-quality meals for our patients and staff.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Food Preparation and Cooking: Prepare and cook a variety of meals, including special diets and cultural/ethnic menus.
  • Food Safety and Hygiene: Ensure compliance with food safety and hygiene regulations, including HACCP and due diligence.
  • Inventory Management: Manage inventory levels and ordering of supplies.
  • Teamwork: Work collaboratively with other kitchen staff to ensure smooth operation of the kitchen.
  • Quality Monitoring: Monitor and maintain high standards of food quality and presentation.

Requirements:

  • Qualifications: City & Guilds 706/2 or equivalent (NVQ Level 3) or recognized catering and support services qualification.
  • Experience: Significant experience as a qualified chef, including experience in cooking for large quantities and special diets.
  • Skills: Ability to cook small and large quantities, allergen awareness, and good communication skills.
  • Training: C.I.E.H Level 2 Food Safety Certificate.

Working Environment:

The successful candidate will work in a fast-paced kitchen environment, preparing and cooking meals for patients and staff. The role requires physical effort, including lifting and carrying heavy equipment and ingredients.
