Key Responsibilities

As a Senior Geotechnical Engineer, you will oversee the specialized geotechnical engineering components of design projects from initiation to completion across various sectors including commercial, healthcare, retail, industrial, and educational.

Your role will involve supporting the Technical Director, leading and reviewing projects within the Geotechnical Team, and mentoring junior design engineers in geotechnical practices.

This position requires participation in project meetings, collaboration with the structural design team and other disciplines, and the production and oversight of detailed designs and specifications that align with project timelines. You will also coordinate geotechnical design and detailing tasks relevant to each project and contribute to the internal management of projects and resource allocation based on your experience and skills.

Essential Duties
  • Develop specifications for site investigation activities and testing procedures.
  • Create geotechnical and geoenvironmental interpretative reports based on the analysis of factual site investigation data and test outcomes.
  • Possess a solid understanding of geotechnical analysis and design methodologies across various soil types, including ordinary and piled rafts, spread footings, piles, retaining walls, deep excavations, groundwater flow analysis, and slope stability.
  • Experience in soil-structure interaction analysis, with proficiency in PLAXIS 3D being essential.
  • Proficient in relevant design and analysis software, including WALLAP, and 2D and 3D geotechnical FEM analysis programs (e.g., Plaxis 2D and 3D), elastic analyses (PDISP), and GMA analyses software (XDISP).
  • Conduct impact assessments on utilities, infrastructure, and third-party structures.
Qualifications

Ideally, you will be working towards or have achieved Chartered Engineer status (CEng MICE).

Experience
  • The ideal candidate will demonstrate their experience, adaptability, and ability to handle challenging situations while taking on responsibilities commensurate with their skills.
  • Relevant practical experience on-site in areas such as supervising site investigations, field testing, and constructing piled foundations and deep basements is preferred.
  • Experience in the field of Geotechnical Engineering is expected.
