We are seeking an experienced and enthusiastic Deputy Ward Manager to join our Child and Adolescent Mental Health Inpatient Service at Brookside in Goodmayes, Ilford, Essex.
About the RoleThis is an exciting opportunity to work with a newly modernised service that has been recognised for its quality provision and CQC rated 'outstanding' practice. As a Deputy Ward Manager, you will be responsible for leading and managing a team of nurses and other healthcare professionals to provide high-quality care to young people aged 12-18 with acute emotional, psychological, and behavioural difficulties.
Main Responsibilities- Lead and manage a team of nurses and other healthcare professionals to provide high-quality care to young people.
- Develop and implement individual care plans in collaboration with the multidisciplinary team.
- Conduct risk assessments and manage risks to ensure the safety and well-being of young people and staff.
- Provide clinical supervision and mentor junior staff and students.
- Manage the HR systems of the ward, including staffing, sickness, and performance-related issues.
- Registered Mental Health Nurse with a degree and evidence of Continuing Professional Development (CPD).
- Extensive experience of working with people with complex, acute mental health needs and challenging behaviors.
- Ability to perform under pressure, quickly and effectively, making timely clinical decisions and following through available agreed care pathways.
- Excellent working knowledge of Care Programme Approach, medication management, and physical health assessment.
