Position Overview

We are in search of a dedicated and adaptable professional who thrives in diverse work settings. The ideal candidate will possess the ability to perform under pressure and meet stringent deadlines while maintaining a high standard of work. Flexibility to travel between various locations is a crucial requirement.

The successful applicant will be an integral part of the Health and Safety Team, contributing to the effective implementation of the fire safety management framework across all services and locations associated with the organization and its partners.

Key Responsibilities

The primary duties of this role include:

  • Providing expert guidance on fire safety matters to ensure compliance with all applicable health and safety regulations.
  • Playing a vital role in training, inspecting, developing, monitoring, and auditing systems and processes to guarantee adherence to legislative requirements and progress towards the annual health and safety action plan.
  • Assisting in fostering a positive health and safety culture within the organization and its partners.
  • Offering specialized advice and support to management and staff regarding their fire safety obligations, and creating processes/documentation to aid in the development of comprehensive risk assessments.
  • Establishing and executing effective monitoring and auditing systems to evaluate health and safety performance.
  • Conducting both proactive and reactive inspections and audits to assess compliance with policies, statutory legislation, and standards based on current priorities.
  • Reviewing and advising on new legislation impacting fire safety, and where necessary, preparing briefing notes for review and approval.
  • Collaborating with regulatory bodies concerning fire safety matters.
  • Designing and delivering specialized training on fire safety topics to various staff groups within the organization and its partners.
  • Monitoring and analyzing adverse incidents, identifying trends, determining root causes, and making recommendations to prevent recurrence.
  • Conducting risk assessments as needed and advising on appropriate control measures to minimize risks effectively.
  • Performing thorough investigations into actual fire incidents and reportable occurrences, ensuring lessons are learned and that identified countermeasures are effective, while assisting in the monitoring of recommended actions.

Qualifications

Essential:

  • NEBOSH Certificate in Fire Safety
  • Adult Teaching/Training Certificate

Desirable:

  • Qualification in Fire Risk Assessment
  • NEBOSH Occupational Health and Safety Certificate

Experience

Essential:

  • Proven experience in the Health and Safety/Fire Safety sector
  • Experience in designing and delivering training programs

Desirable:

  • Experience within the NHS or public sector
  • Background in a safety-related role
