Risk Exposure Analyst

1. Objective
The position entails utilizing catastrophe modeling and aggregation tools to assess risks and oversee a portfolio of exposures. This role focuses on managing the Terrorism class of business and provides an exceptional opportunity for the selected candidate to acquire a diverse range of skills within the Exposure Management domain.
2. Key Responsibilities:
- Support the management of a risk portfolio, which includes regular communication with underwriting teams for data needs, clarification, and comprehension, as well as the manipulation and entry of data into licensed modeling software (such as AIR).
- Assist the team with portfolio oversight and variance analysis, which involves conducting accumulation assessments within AIR.
- Prepare monthly reports for underwriters, featuring insights on significant changes in modeled figures and any alterations in models or methodologies.
- Contribute to the preparation of reinsurance data submissions and address inquiries from reinsurers regarding data requests.
- Engage in frequent communication with senior underwriters, actuarial analysts, and colleagues across various departments within the Managing Agency and the Lancashire Group.
- Participate in post-event catastrophe loss evaluations using a range of tools and methodologies, including internal models, vendor model event footprints, and mapping/GIS solutions.
- Engage in ongoing projects and research to enhance the exposure management capabilities and knowledge base within the Syndicate.
- Utilize Microsoft Excel and SQL extensively, along with exposure to vendor model software and mapping products.
3. Required Skills & Qualifications
- Prior experience with modeling, preferably AIR, or familiarity with RMS/Sequel Impact/other vendor models.
- Experience and understanding of inputting and cleansing exposure data.
- Familiarity with insurance terminology.
- Strong numerical skills, with the ability to analyze extensive data sets.
- Proficient computer skills, particularly in Microsoft Excel; experience with SQL is advantageous but not mandatory.
- Ability to manage time effectively and meet deadlines.
- Willingness to collaborate within a team while also being capable of working independently and engaging in a variety of tasks as needed.
- Interest in the insurance sector, particularly the Lloyd's market.
- Desire to pursue formal qualifications and attend relevant seminars as necessary.
