Job Title: Independent Reviewing Officer

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Independent Reviewing Officer to join our team in Cambridge. As an IRO, you will play a critical role in ensuring the welfare and best interests of looked after children.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Co-ordinate and chair looked after children's reviews within statutory timescales, prioritizing the child's needs and ensuring their thoughts and feelings are considered in the planning process.
  • Review and monitor the effectiveness of care plans for looked after children, ensuring that agreed actions are being progressed and that there is no drift in permanency planning.
  • Endorse care plans, make and record recommendations, and actions required to meet the reviewed child's needs, achieving timely outcomes.
  • Make recommendations about discontinuing child protection plans for children subject to such plans who become looked after.
  • Meet with children to ascertain their wishes and feelings and ensure that these are considered within the planning and review process.
Requirements:
  • HCPC Registration
  • Social Work Qualification
  • Recent DBS Check
  • Previous IRO experience (desirable)
