Position Overview
The Trainee Healthcare Support Specialist program is designed to create employment pathways within the East Suffolk and North Essex NHS Foundation Trust for individuals aspiring to enter the healthcare sector.
These positions are tailored for candidates with minimal prior experience and will facilitate career advancement into nursing and allied health professions, including Physiotherapy and Speech & Language Therapy, as well as opportunities in specialized areas such as surgical theatres.
As a Trainee Healthcare Support Specialist, you will be responsible for delivering personal care to patients, ensuring their comfort and well-being.
This role is accessible to those without prior experience and includes the opportunity to complete a Level 2 Healthcare Support Worker Apprenticeship.
Candidates must fulfill the following criteria:
Participate in an Assessment Day Commit to a designated start date (annual leave is not encouraged within the initial weeks) Meet eligibility requirements, including residency status and work authorization, and fulfill pre-employment checks such as references and health assessments. Candidates must be at least 18 years old due to shift requirements.For those with substantial prior experience or relevant qualifications in healthcare, separate application processes are available.
Key Responsibilities
The program will commence with a structured classroom-based training period, followed by practical placements in various healthcare settings to enhance skill development. Training topics will encompass communication, basic life support, health and safety protocols, equality and diversity, and duty of care, among others.
All apprentices are required to complete assessments in mathematics and English at the appropriate level, which can be integrated into the apprenticeship program through our Functional Skills instructors.
