About the Role

We are seeking a highly motivated and skilled Automation Developer to join our team at The Scottish Government. As a key member of our Corporate Transformation Directorate, you will play a crucial role in shaping and delivering transformational corporate change across the wider public sector.

Key Responsibilities
  • Automation Opportunities: Identify and develop automation solutions to improve business processes and increase efficiency.
  • Process Development: Design, build, test, and deploy automation process solutions, including collecting and documenting requirements, defining process and technical solutions, prototyping, configuring digital components, and supporting stakeholders throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Process Controller: Maintain the daily administration of the production environment, including scheduling processes and monitoring resources, and investigate, escalate, and resolve any issues identified.
  • Performance Metrics: Support business and technical reviews of automation performance operational and performance metrics reporting.
  • Documentation: Develop and maintain appropriate documentation for all facets of RPA work.
  • Methodology and Standards: Contribute to RPA development methodology and testing practices/standards, ensuring adherence to RPA/development/coding standards and naming conventions.
About the Team

You will be part of a motivated, collaborative, and supportive team, where you will have the opportunity to develop your technical skill-set and help build The Scottish Government's Automation Centre of Excellence.

What We Offer

This is an exciting opportunity to work on agile projects within a portfolio and develop automation solutions using a range of hyper automation platforms, including Blue Prism, UiPath, and Microsoft. You will also have the chance to contribute to best practice for the delivery of RPA solutions within the Scottish Public Sector as part of the CoE.

Requirements

To be successful in this role, you will need to have a strong understanding of automation technologies and a passion for process improvement. You will also need to be able to work collaboratively with stakeholders and end-users throughout the project lifecycle.
