Job Title: Youth Justice Officer

Connect2Luton is seeking a skilled Youth Justice Officer to join their team in the Children, Families and Education department of Luton Borough Council. As a Youth Justice Officer, you will play a crucial role in working with children and young people subject to early intervention, prevention, and youth justice services.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Conduct assessments and develop intervention plans with children and young people, as well as their families, to address challenging and complex cases.
  • Work in partnership with various statutory and voluntary agencies to deliver effective services and meet the requirements of the Youth Justice Board and Ministry of Justice.
  • Keep accurate case records, including electronic records, statistics, and other relevant information.
  • Act as duty officer, evaluating and responding to new referrals, taking appropriate action, and providing advice and assistance.
  • Represent the service at meetings with partner agencies and local organizations.
Requirements:
  • Demonstrable experience working with adolescents, either paid or voluntary.
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, with the ability to create and maintain positive working relationships with children.
  • Ability to use initiative, work to targets, and prioritize workload to meet strict deadlines.
  • Capacity to assess, support, and motivate young people, including those with medium to high levels of vulnerability and risk.
  • Ability to make professional judgments in a multi-disciplinary criminal justice setting and negotiate appropriate resources.
  • Valid driving license and ability to transport children and young people.
