Nationwide, United Kingdom Carnival UK Careers Full time
Carnival UK - Engineer Graduate Cadetship
  • Carnival UK is the parent company of renowned brands such as P&O Cruises and Cunard. We are a successful global enterprise with a rich legacy, offering aspiring seafarers a variety of exceptional cadetship training programs that stand out in the industry.

We are excited to announce the launch of our Engineer Graduate Cadetship programme. This postgraduate pathway is tailored for individuals with relevant engineering qualifications, providing a fast-track route to obtain an Engineering Officer of the Watch Certificate of competency.

If you have recently completed an engineering qualification (mechanical or electrical), and are contemplating your career path, this opportunity is for you.

As a graduate cadet in engineering, you will apply your academic knowledge in practical settings while gaining insights into the operation and maintenance of the ship's engine room and its mechanical/electrical systems. You will be tasked with assessing challenges in the sophisticated, high-tech environment of a modern cruise ship, making swift decisions, and implementing effective solutions.

What We Seek:
Carnival UK values our greatest asset—our colleagues. We are looking for resilient, quick-thinking, and optimistic individuals who are eager to embark on their careers with us. If you are passionate about teamwork, innovation, communication, and the maritime world, we encourage you to consider this opportunity.

We are interested in candidates who thrive in collaborative environments and possess strong communication skills.

The dynamic settings you will encounter require individuals who can maintain composure under pressure and adapt to changing circumstances.

Self-motivation and a desire to learn are essential as you progress through your cadetship and career with Carnival UK. A solid understanding of engineering principles and practical skills is expected.

Before applying, please ensure you meet the following criteria:

  • Completion of a suitable engineering apprenticeship and/or qualification as an engineer.

Eligible candidates for the graduate cadetship include:

  • University Graduates or holders of a Higher National Diploma (HND) in Mechanical, Marine, or Electrical Engineering, or in an engineering discipline covering at least four of the following six subjects: Mathematics, Engineering Drawing, Applied Mechanics, Applied Heat, Electrotechnology, and Naval Architecture.
  • Individuals with a suitable engineering apprenticeship (NVQ level 3 or above).
  • GCSE Grade 4-9 or equivalent.
  • Possession of an ENG1 certificate.

All graduate cadetships require a Letter of Initial Assessment (LIA) issued by an accredited Maritime Education Establishment.

Eligibility Requirements:
All candidates must be UK or EEA citizens, residing in the UK for at least one year prior to application, and possess the right to live and work in the UK without restrictions.

Benefits of the Graduate Route:

  • Training with a leading cruise company.
  • Fast-track progression.
  • Completion in as little as 18 months.
  • Various entry qualification options.
  • Flexible start dates throughout the academic year.
  • Enhanced salary.
  • Fully-funded training.

Crew members are encouraged to stay current with their COVID-19 vaccinations prior to joining a ship, if available.
