Job Introduction

We are seeking a skilled Craft Attendant to join our team based in Hereford. As a key member of our maintenance team, you will be responsible for the repair, replacement, and construction of assets to ensure the efficient operation of our distribution systems.

Main Responsibilities

  • Conduct thorough risk assessments to identify potential hazards and take necessary precautions to ensure a safe working environment.
  • Prepare work sites, erect signs and barriers, and excavate as required to complete tasks efficiently.
  • Install and maintain electrical equipment, including meters and cut-outs, to ensure reliable supply.
  • Operate mini excavators and other equipment to complete tasks safely and effectively.
  • Provide first aid and maintain a safe and healthy working environment.
  • Assist colleagues and contribute to team objectives, promoting a culture of collaboration and excellence.
  • Communicate effectively with customers, advising them of any impact on their services and resolving complaints where possible.
  • Comply with safety instructions, use protective equipment, and wear protective clothing to minimize risks.
  • Report all accidents and incidents, contributing to a culture of transparency and accountability.

Ideal Candidate

We are looking for a skilled and flexible individual who can work effectively in a team environment. You will need to be mobile throughout the area and may be required to undertake out-of-hours standby duties. A full driving license is desirable, and some electrical experience would be an advantage, although full training will be provided.

Requirements

  • English GCSE (1-9 / G-A) or equivalent qualification deemed to be at the same level in this subject, such as Functional Skills.
  • A satisfactory Barring Service (DBS) check, with different levels of screening and vetting required for certain roles.
