Nuclear Safety Case Engineer

Location: Barrow-In-Furness, with flexible working arrangements available.
Salary: Competitive, with a minimum of GBP60,000+ dependent on experience.
Job Summary:
We are seeking a highly skilled Nuclear Safety Case Engineer to join our team at BAE Systems. As a key member of our Engineering Authority Team, you will be responsible for overseeing and authoring nuclear substantiation documentation to support the site safety case. You will also review calculations and analysis work, support periodic review of safety, and take ownership of deliverables, demonstrating a high level of autonomy.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop and maintain nuclear substantiation documentation to support the site safety case.
- Review and validate calculations and analysis work to ensure compliance with safety regulations.
- Support the periodic review of safety to ensure ongoing compliance.
- Take ownership of deliverables and demonstrate a high level of autonomy in your work.
- Collaborate with the Human Factors, Site Safety Case, and Engineering Authority Teams to ensure effective communication and coordination.
- Support the development of other Nuclear Substantiation team members to enhance their skills and knowledge.
- Contribute to the development of nuclear substantiation related activities across the wider business.
Requirements:
Essential:
- Experience in Nuclear Safety or Safety Case Analysis.
- Experience in Nuclear, other high-hazard, or highly regulated industries.
- Ability to produce high-quality technical reports.
- Demonstrated ability to drive deliverables through due process.
- Excellent stakeholder management skills.
Desirable:
- Broad understanding of multiple engineering disciplines.
- Chartered Engineer from the Engineering Council and a member of a relevant professional body.
- Degree qualified in a STEM subject.
