We are thrilled to announce an opportunity at Barking and Dagenham College for a Automotive Technical Support Specialist to enhance our Automotive department.

This position is offered on a full-time, permanent basis, with a competitive salary range of £27,590 - £29,761 per annum, inclusive of London Weighting.

The primary objective of the Automotive Technical Support Specialist role is to deliver essential technical assistance to both educators and learners at Barking & Dagenham Further Education College, Rush Green Campus.

Key Responsibilities of the Automotive Technical Support Specialist:

  • Collaborate closely with the relevant Curriculum Manager and Head of Department to ensure that the support provided aligns with the specific needs of the Directorate.
  • Prepare necessary materials and equipment for demonstrations and practical sessions, including examination preparations as required.
  • Oversee the installation, inspection, and implementation of new tools and resources, ensuring their proper functionality.
  • Manage the care and maintenance of tools and equipment, including their distribution to and collection from students.

Our ideal Automotive Technical Support Specialist should possess the following qualifications, skills, and experience:

  • Formal qualifications in the relevant field up to level 2, including English and Maths.
  • A Level 2 IT qualification is preferred.
  • If you hold a minimum of Level 2 qualification in Motor Vehicle studies, you will be required to enroll in a Level 3 course within the first year to support our Level 3 students.
  • Exemplary interpersonal and team development skills, with the ability to contribute effectively to team objectives and work independently.
  • Strong IT and administrative capabilities, with a focus on maintaining accurate records for tools and equipment.
  • Ability to demonstrate the use of equipment while adhering to safe working practices.
  • Recent and relevant experience in a motor vehicle training environment or progress towards a Level 3 qualification in the relevant field is desirable.
