Your Role

As our new Microstation Technician / BIM Coordinator, you will be an integral part of a vibrant, multi-disciplinary buildings practice comprising 300 professionals. You will contribute to and spearhead the modelling efforts for some of the most innovative and sustainable building projects across the UK. Your role will be crucial in driving project success through effective modelling, coordination, and mentorship, fostering collaboration between Engineering teams and external partners to ensure projects are executed efficiently and meet the highest quality standards.

Your primary responsibilities will include:

Supervising the creation and coordination of BIM models primarily associated with Rail and Infrastructure Buildings projects, utilizing Microstation OBD. Developing and executing BIM methodologies that leverage the latest digital techniques, ensuring the team remains at the forefront of industry standards. Assisting the Sector Leader in formulating a digital strategy with defined short, medium, and long-term objectives. Mentoring and guiding junior team members, enhancing their skills in Microstation practices and ensuring adherence to BIM standards by promoting high-quality outputs.

Your Team

You will be part of the Buildings Structural Engineering Team located in one of our UK offices. You will engage in a variety of projects alongside our engineering teams nationally, with opportunities to work on both domestic and international projects. Collaboration with our Transport Market colleagues will provide chances to contribute to major infrastructure projects. You will join one of our seven structural teams tailored to your location, with options for hybrid office/home working arrangements.

Proficiency in Bentley Microstation and OBD. Experience working in a collaborative, federated BIM environment utilizing clash detection software as needed. Familiarity with Network Rail or Transport for London CAD and BIM standards is advantageous. A willingness to challenge norms to develop a high level of technical expertise with a clear understanding of sustainable design. The ability to think creatively to identify improved procedures, protocols, and methods to enhance our modelling deliverables.
