Job Overview

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Catering Manager to oversee the day-to-day operations of our Tea Room and Pilgrims' Hall facilities at The Friars. The successful candidate will be responsible for delivering exceptional catering services, optimizing guest experiences, and driving financial returns.

The ideal candidate will possess a strong background in catering and hospitality, with expertise in menu planning, food preparation, and service. They will also have excellent leadership and communication skills, with the ability to motivate and train staff.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage the catering department's finances, including budgeting, forecasting, and reporting
  • Plan and coordinate catering events, including menu selection, food preparation, and service
  • Lead a team of catering staff, providing guidance, training, and development opportunities
  • Ensure compliance with health and safety, food safety, and hygiene standards
  • Maintain high standards of cleanliness and presentation in the kitchen and service areas
  • Recruit, develop, and manage staff within the department
  • Handle customer inquiries and resolve any issues promptly

Requirements:

  • Proven experience in catering management, preferably in a similar environment
  • Strong leadership and motivating skills, with the ability to build strong relationships with customers and staff
  • Excellent business and commercial acumen, with financial budgeting and forecasting skills
  • Hands-on experience with menu planning and food preparation
  • Stamina and ability to work under pressure
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Excellent administrative ability and computer literacy
  • Knowledge of food, food preparation, and food hygiene (including HACCP)
  • Friendly and professional attitude
  • Flexibility to work weekends and bank holidays
  • Diploma in Catering or Hospitality is desirable
