Job Title: Assistant Quantity Surveyor

Reporting to the Commercial Manager, this role involves working closely with a Senior Quantity Surveyor to assist in the commercial delivery of residential development schemes. Key responsibilities include assisting with cost management, compiling tender packages, and issuing sub-contract orders. The successful candidate will have worked in a similar role for a main contractor or developer within the region and possess strong mathematical and IT skills.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Assist with cost management for projects from procurement to completion of sub-contract final accounts
  • Compile tender packages for sub-contract trades
  • Issue sub-contract orders in accordance with Group Policy and Commercial Best Practice
  • Liaise with Build Department on sub-contractors' performance and compliance with order conditions
  • Assist with production of sub-contract orders to accord with site programmed build requirements
  • Control and report post-contract cost movements
  • Process invoices and applications for payments in accordance with Standard Terms and Conditions of Contract
Requirements:
  • HNC/ Degree qualified in Quantity Surveying/ Construction Management or equivalent
  • Good understanding of building regulations and legal obligations
  • Strong mathematical and IT ability
  • Good business sense and negotiating skills
  • Excellent communication skills
Desirable:
  • HND/ Degree in Construction
  • Member of the Chartered Institute of Building or working towards full membership
  • COINS systems management knowledge
