Role Overview:We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Character Artist to join our studio, working on a narrative-driven 'Adventure' game with genre-defining goals. Collaborating with the Character Art team, Art Director, and other development team members, the Senior Character Artist will create photorealistic, AAA-quality characters and creatures that bring our game world to life.
Our ideal candidate will demonstrate exceptional artistic ability, technical expertise in real-time character modeling and texturing, and a passion for delivering high-quality results within a game development team.
We offer a flexible working arrangement, with the option to work from our studio or remotely in the UK. Our team is committed to creating a supportive and inclusive environment that fosters creativity, innovation, and growth.
Key Responsibilities:- Produce AAA-quality character models that meet design and direction, following established pipelines.
- Work closely with the Character Art and Concept teams, and be receptive to feedback from the Art Director and Lead Character Artist.
- Collaborate with Technical Art and Technical Animation to ensure all assets are efficient and fit for purpose.
- Experienced Character Artist in game development, with a strong portfolio showcasing artistic ability and technical expertise.
- Able to demonstrate a detailed understanding of human anatomy and proportion, with expertise in sculpting, 3D modeling in Maya/Max, and PBR texturing of real-time characters in Substance Painter.
- Proficient with industry-standard packages, including Maya, Substance Painter, ZBrush, and Marvelous Designer.
- Solid understanding of character topology and the ability to create well-optimized and animation-friendly meshes.
- Ability to work autonomously, maintain good timekeeping, and self-organize.
- A good communicator, able to understand technical instruction and share knowledge with the team.
- Experience with Unreal Engine.
- Knowledge of AAA hair authoring workflows.
- Shader knowledge is also a plus.
