ROLE OVERVIEW
Our Bioresources division is seeking a Fleet Operations Manager for our Tanker Services.
In this role, you will lead our Vacuum Tanker drivers and oversee the logistics operations of Bio Resources efficiently. Your responsibilities will include leveraging data to create detailed plans in collaboration with the Sludge Planning Office, enhancing operational efficiencies, and ensuring adherence to Health and Safety regulations as well as Legal Driving Time standards. You will also focus on driving continuous improvements and developing transport solutions that prioritize safety, quality, and cost-effectiveness.
Collaboration with various stakeholders within Severn Trent to boost productivity is essential, as is representing the company professionally during travel and interactions with customers and colleagues.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Ensure compliance with Severn Trent's Health & Safety and Environmental policies, as well as relevant legislation.
- Monitor and report on operational and development plans aimed at enhancing efficiencies across regions through data-driven strategies.
- Manage, support, and motivate team members across all sites, conducting regular performance reviews.
- Recruit, train, and develop drivers in accordance with company policies, ensuring adherence to HR procedures.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with key stakeholders, including the Sludge Planning Office and Transport Teams.
- Oversee personnel, track their progress, and serve as their primary contact for any issues, emphasizing the importance of communication skills.
- Ensure compliance with the Company's Operating License, including H&S, risk management, and vehicle maintenance policies.
- Maintain fleet vehicles to a high standard in accordance with DVSA regulations to ensure optimal operational efficiency.
- Ensure adherence to driving time and rest period regulations.
- Establish and monitor Health & Safety standards and training, ensuring safe work systems are in place.
- Conduct incident investigations and reporting in line with established formats and timelines.
- Record and report all personal injury incidents and proactive safety behaviors within the team.
- Develop and implement strategies for driver training and performance management.
- Participate in management and operational meetings as required.
- Drive improvements in efficiency and productivity through enhanced service delivery and optimized fleet utilization.
QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILLS
To excel in this position, you should have a proven track record in managing a team of drivers and their vehicles, preferably within a Vacuum tanker or similar transport environment. Flexibility to meet customer needs and operational demands is crucial.
Strong analytical and numerical skills, along with excellent interpersonal and leadership abilities, are essential for success in this role.
A solid understanding of O-License obligations and the Working Time Directive, as well as experience in stakeholder and customer management, will be vital.
