Position Overview

Central London Community Health Trust - Our organization is dedicated to delivering a variety of community health services, and we are currently seeking a skilled individual to join our team.

We are an innovative and proactive group looking for a band 6 nurse to become a vital part of our established workforce as an Assistant Team Leader.

An excellent opportunity has emerged for a qualified and enthusiastic registered nurse to oversee one of our community teams under the guidance and supervision of the Deputy Locality Manager.

Your responsibilities will be diverse and engaging, managing a patient caseload that includes the assessment, planning, execution, and review of evidence-based care for patients in their home settings. Previous experience in community nursing is a prerequisite.

The ideal candidate will possess a strong dedication to teamwork, be approachable, an effective communicator, capable of working independently, and open to change.

Qualifications

Essential

  • Registered Nurse with current UK NMC registration.
  • Mentor/Preceptor/998 or equivalent.
  • Specialist Nursing Practice (District Nursing) Degree or willingness to undertake training.
  • Nurse Prescribing or willingness to undertake training.
  • Evidence of ongoing personal development.

Desirable

  • First Level Degree.
  • Independent Prescriber.
  • Relevant courses in Long Term Conditions Management.
  • Experience in Top to Toe examination/diagnosis.

Experience

Essential

  • Minimum of 3 years' experience at band 5 Community Nurse level.
  • Team management experience.
  • Experience in managing change within a complex environment.
  • Experience in teaching and mentoring others.
  • Proven leadership skills.
  • Demonstrated clinical expertise at Senior Community Nursing level.
  • Experience in handling complaints and clinical audits.
  • Knowledge of recent developments in the NHS.
  • Understanding of evidence-based practice.
  • Familiarity with the NMC code of professional conduct.

  • Proven leadership capabilities.

  • Understanding of the current political and policy context in Primary Health Care.
  • Knowledge of clinical governance and its implications.
  • Evidence of expertise in clinical skills.

  • Ability to use syringe drivers for medication administration.
  • Capability to administer IV therapy in a community setting or willingness to undergo training.
  • Strong organizational and time-management skills.
  • Ability to plan and achieve key objectives within strict timelines.
  • Proficiency in IT, including word processing and internet skills.
  • Presentation skills.

Physical Effort

  • Ability to perform the duties of the position, including using stairs.
  • Capability to use moving and handling equipment.
  • Possession of a full, valid UK driving license and access to a vehicle for business purposes (unless exempt under the Equality Act 2010).
