About the Role

Colas Ltd is seeking an experienced Traffic Signals Engineer to join our team in Portsmouth. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for the installation, commissioning, and maintenance of fixed traffic signals and associated equipment for Highways England or Local Authorities. Your primary focus will be on delivering high-quality projects within the required timescales, ensuring the safety of yourself, colleagues, contractors, and the public.

Main Responsibilities

  • Support the PFI Business Manager(s) and Traffic Signals Supervisor in maintaining the HEA/NHSS 8 Sector Scheme portfolio.
  • Produce and maintain all associated test and handover documentation within the required timescales and to the highest quality.
  • Self-audit your work activities to prevent errors or inaccuracies and complete maintenance/periodic inspections in line with the agreed schedule.
  • Carry out installation and commissioning works to specified designs and standards.
  • Undertake out-of-hours standby cover for urgent traffic signal-related faults on a 1-week-in-3 rotation.

Requirements

  • A valid ECS/CSCS/HEA card.
  • Electrically qualified to BS 7671 wiring regulations (17th Edition).
  • City & Guilds 2391-52 Inspection & Testing.
  • Ability to work independently, comfortably working at heights, and in all weather conditions.
  • A full UK driving license is required.
