We are a well-established healthcare provider seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic individual to join our team as a Healthcare Support Worker. Our centre offers a dynamic and supportive environment, working closely with a multi-disciplinary team to deliver high-quality patient care.

Job Summary

We are looking for a motivated and compassionate individual to support our nursing team in providing exceptional patient care. As a Healthcare Support Worker, you will be responsible for undertaking various clinical tasks, including blood pressure monitoring, ECGs, and wound care, under the supervision of our experienced nursing staff.

Main Responsibilities

  • Undertake new patient health checks, including baseline observations and health monitoring
  • Support the practice nurse with health promotion programs, including routine and 24-hour blood pressure monitoring
  • Carry out wound care, dressings, and other clinical tasks as required
  • Support the practice nurse with the management of chronic disease clinics
  • Carry out BMI checks as directed
  • Act as a chaperone as required
  • Undertake venepuncture, administer flu vaccinations, and carry out ear irrigation under the supervision of the practice nurse
  • Carry out ECGs as requested
  • Ensure specimens are recorded and ready for onward transportation
  • Provide support during minor operations as required
  • Ensure all clinical rooms are adequately stocked and prepared for each session
  • Ensure fridges are cleaned routinely in accordance with extant guidance
  • Ensure clinical waste is removed from clinical areas and sharps bins replaced in accordance with the practice IPC policy
  • Deliver opportunistic health promotion where appropriate

Person Specification

  • Qualified to undertake phlebotomy, ECGs, and dressings
  • Experience in working with the general public and working within a team
  • Experience of a healthcare setting
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Strong IT competency
  • Effective time management
  • Ability to follow clinical policy and procedure
  • Polite and confident
  • Flexible and co-operative
  • Motivated
