We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Counselling Psychologist to join our team at the Ministry of Justice. As a key member of our psychology service, you will play a vital role in providing expert psychological advice and support to our clients.
Key Responsibilities- Conduct comprehensive case reviews and provide authoritative advice on sentence plans.
- Specialize in delivering psychology services in therapeutic community settings.
- Lead and supervise group sessions, ensuring effective delivery of complex programs.
- Offer professional opinions to multi-functional teams on high-risk or vulnerable prisoners.
- Develop and implement strategies for sex offender or indeterminate sentence prisoner assessment and intervention.
- Deliver and supervise treatment management for complex programs, such as healthy sexual functioning.
- Provide consultancy support to colleagues on psychology services and outcomes.
- Conduct relevant research, including data gathering and analysis.
- Act as a professional witness in parole board hearings and other formal settings.
- Manage and provide professional supervision to trainee forensic psychology staff.
- Ensure staff development in accordance with key competencies and gateways.
- Lead on risk assessment and resulting risk management of complex, vulnerable, or high-risk prisoners.
- Contribute to offender management processes, including ACCT assessments and self-harm or personality disorder assessments.
- Provide consultancy support to the wider team on specialist activities.
- Manage own Continued Professional Development (CPD) requirements and maintain professional standards.
- Provide psychological contributions to the work of therapeutic communities.
- Prepare psychological reports for life sentence prisoners.
- BPS/HCPC Counselling Psychologist registration.
- Registration as a Counselling Psychologist with the HCPC.
- Chartered membership with the BPS.
- Spoken and written English language proficiency.
