Overview of the Portfolio Execution Group (PEG)

The Portfolio Execution Group comprises various teams that execute essential functions such as trade execution, liquidity management, securities financing, and quantitative research applications. This division includes three specialized sub-teams: Global Trading Unit (GTU), Balance Sheet Management Group (BMG), and Applied Research Unit (ARU).

Global Trading Unit (GTU)

The Global Trading Unit (GTU) is tasked with executing GIC's investment strategies across public markets. Operating as a unified global team with desks in key financial hubs, GTU manages trades in equities, fixed income, currencies, and commodities. The primary objectives of GTU are to ensure optimal execution for GIC's portfolio managers and to provide valuable market insights that enhance the investment process.

We are seeking a candidate with expertise in macro trading to join the GTU team in London, focusing on fixed income trading.

Key Responsibilities of the Trader Role:

  • Collaborate closely with GIC's portfolio managers worldwide to devise and execute trades during the London trading hours across various instruments including cash, credit, bonds, emerging markets, foreign exchange, swaps, futures, and options.
  • Gather and communicate unique market intelligence on specific sectors and macroeconomic trends to GIC's portfolio managers and senior leadership, engaging in cross-departmental discussions.
  • Work in tandem with colleagues from the Applied Research Unit (ARU) and Technology Group (TG) to extract insights from GTU's trading data, continuously enhancing execution strategies and trading technology.
  • Establish and nurture strong relationships with GIC's counterparties and liquidity providers, leveraging excellent interpersonal and communication skills.

Qualifications and Skills Required:

  • 4-8 years of trading experience, preferably with a focus on macro products.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Proficient in problem-solving with a keen attention to detail.
  • Adept at multitasking, prioritizing, and managing information effectively.
  • Willingness to take intra-day and inter-day market timing risks to achieve superior execution results and accountability for decisions made.
  • Enjoy working collaboratively within a diverse team to exchange ideas on execution strategies, market insights, and projects for optimized solutions.
  • Programming skills in Python and a passion for data analysis are advantageous.
