AWS Utility Computing (UC) is at the forefront of product innovation — from essential services like Amazon's Simple Storage Service (S3) and Amazon Elastic Compute Cloud (EC2) to a continuous stream of new product innovations that distinguish AWS's offerings in the industry.


Your Role as a Cloud Systems Engineer
As a vital member of the UC organization, you will assist in the development and management of services including Compute, Database, Storage, Internet of Things (IoT), Platform, and Productivity Applications within AWS. This includes providing support for clients requiring specialized security solutions for their cloud services.

What does a Cloud Systems Engineer do at AWS?


On a typical day, engineers may delve into understanding the root causes of customer issues, analyze metrics that are trending negatively, consult with top engineers at AWS, or explore innovative methods to automate operational challenges.

Our Cloud Systems Engineering roles empower engineers to cultivate a wide array of skills. Experienced engineers often take on leadership roles within their teams by becoming subject matter experts across various services. They are responsible for developing, building, deploying, operating, sustaining, and enhancing services in cloud production environments. They leverage trends and metrics to pinpoint areas for improvement and help refine procedures utilized by their team and internal stakeholders.

Engineers are expected to maintain high standards in their development work and effectively address new and ambiguous problem domains while consistently delivering impactful changes for customers.

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS:
  • 2+ years of non-internship professional software development experience.
  • 1+ years of experience in designing or architecting (design patterns, reliability, and scaling) new and existing systems.
  • 7+ years of administrative experience in networking, storage systems, operating systems, and hands-on systems engineering.
  • Knowledge of systems engineering fundamentals (networking, storage, operating systems).
  • Experience programming with at least one modern language such as C++, C#, Java, Python, Golang, PowerShell, or Ruby.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Experience in automating, deploying, and supporting large-scale infrastructure.
  • Experience with CI/CD pipeline build processes.
  • Experience with Linux/Unix.
