About the Role

The AUGUST, a renowned music restaurant, is seeking an experienced and accomplished Sous Chef to join our dynamic kitchen team.

The ideal candidate will possess a strong background in culinary arts, excellent leadership skills, and the ability to work in a fast-paced environment.

Key Responsibilities
  • Kitchen Management:
    • Assist the Head Chef in overseeing daily kitchen operations, ensuring seamless execution of menu items and maintaining high standards of food safety and hygiene.
    • Supervise and train kitchen staff, promoting consistency in food preparation and presentation.
    • Ensure that all dishes meet the restaurant's quality standards and customer expectations.
  • Food Preparation:
    • Prepare and cook menu items as directed by the Head Chef, utilizing creativity and attention to detail.
    • Monitor the quality of ingredients and optimize their use to minimize waste.
    • Participate in menu planning and development, including the creation of specials and new dishes that align with the restaurant's brand and customer preferences.
  • Hygiene and Safety:
    • Ensure that the kitchen meets all health and safety standards, including proper food storage, sanitation, and cleanliness.
    • Oversee the cleaning of kitchen equipment and work areas, maintaining compliance with hygiene regulations.
    • Conduct regular inspections to maintain a safe and sanitary environment.
  • Inventory and Stock Control:
    • Assist in ordering and managing inventory to ensure that the kitchen is always stocked with necessary ingredients and supplies.
    • Monitor stock levels and optimize inventory management to minimize waste.
    • Ensure that deliveries are checked for quality and that storage areas are organized.
  • Team Collaboration:
    • Work closely with the Head Chef and other kitchen staff to ensure a smooth and efficient kitchen operation.
    • Foster a positive and collaborative work environment, promoting teamwork and open communication.
    • Step into the Head Chef's role in their absence, ensuring that kitchen operations run smoothly.
  • Customer Service:
    • Ensure that all dishes leaving the kitchen meet the restaurant's quality standards and customer expectations.
    • Address any customer feedback or concerns related to food quality promptly and professionally.
    Requirements
    • Proven experience as a Sous Chef or in a similar role in a high-quality restaurant.
    • Strong knowledge of culinary techniques, kitchen equipment, and food safety standards.
    • Excellent leadership and team management skills.
    • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and handle multiple tasks efficiently.
    • Formal culinary training or relevant certifications required.
    Working Conditions

This position requires standing for extended periods, lifting heavy objects, and working in a fast-paced kitchen environment.

The Sous Chef may be required to work long hours, including nights, weekends, and holidays.
