About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Nuclear Waste Assessor to join our Nuclear Waste Assessment Team. As a key member of our team, you will play a critical role in ensuring the safe and responsible management of radioactive waste across the nuclear industry in England.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assess and analyze technical proposals and safety cases for radioactive waste management and disposal
  • Provide specialist technical advice and support to our nuclear site regulators and external stakeholders
  • Contribute to the development of nuclear waste management policy and guidance
  • Assess nuclear site waste management plans for higher activity wastes
  • Assess proposed and existing disposal facilities for radioactive waste, including proposals for geological disposal of wastes
Requirements
  • Significant experience of treating, conditioning, and/or disposing of solid radioactive waste within the nuclear or associated industry
  • Proven ability to assess and analyze technical proposals and safety cases for radioactive waste management and disposal
  • Excellent technical report writing skills
  • Ability to communicate with and influence a range of internal and external stakeholders
  • Full UK driving licence
