HVDC Protection Engineer
We are seeking a highly skilled HVDC Protection Engineer to join our team at Siemens Energy. As a key member of our Grid Solutions business, you will be responsible for designing and delivering full HVDC control and protection solutions for wind farm grid connections and interconnectors.
Your Responsibilities- Prepare quotations and engineering work packages in line with project and business objectives.
- Develop DC protection concepts for self-guided multilevel converters with half-bridge and full-bridge modules.
- Perform protection coordination studies of HVDC systems using PSCAD/EMTDC, including determination of DC protection settings.
- Program software for DC protection and measurement systems in MATLAB/SIMULINK and CFC.
- Conduct functional and performance testing, including Model-Based-Testing (MBT) and Hardware in the Loop (HiL) testing.
- Provide customer training and acceptance tests, as well as submit lessons learned for improvement.
- Support research and development topics for HVDC projects and serve as the first point of contact for troubleshooting and after-sales support.
- University degree in electrical engineering or a comparable field of study.
- Experience in control and protection, especially in the development of DC protection concepts for HVDC, FACTS, or large-scale converter applications.
- Experience in software engineering and testing of SRS systems, with a strong knowledge of MATLAB/SIMULINK.
- Solid knowledge in modeling and simulation studies with PSCAD/EMTDC.
- Fluent English speaker and writer, with German preferable.
- Strong communication and teamwork skills for result-oriented and creative development of our projects.
