Job Summary

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a locum consultant obstetrician and gynaecologist to join the Department of Obstetrics & Gynaecology at the North Middlesex University Hospital NHS Trust.

Main Responsibilities

The successful candidate will be responsible for delivering high-quality patient care, participating in the delivery of the undergraduate curriculum, and contributing to the development of the department.

Key Duties
  • Take a full part in delivering the undergraduate curriculum to trainees and medical students
  • Participate in the development of the department and contribute to the delivery of high-quality patient care
  • Work collaboratively with other consultants and healthcare professionals to achieve departmental goals
  • Contribute to the development of clinical guidelines and protocols
  • Participate in clinical audit and quality improvement initiatives
Requirements

The ideal candidate will have:

  • Full GMC registration
  • Medical Degree - MBBS or equivalent
  • MRCOG or appropriate specialist qualification
  • CCT or eligibility for entry within 6 months of the date of AAC
  • ATSM in advanced labour ward
Desirable Qualifications and Experience

The following qualifications and experience are desirable:

  • Higher degree MD, PhD
  • Broad General Obstetrics & Gynaecology experience
  • Excellent Clinical skills
  • Evidence of training in risk management systems
  • Formal training in communication in difficult situations
  • Previous work in hospital with diverse ethnic population
Skills and Abilities

The ideal candidate will have:

  • Ability to communicate effectively with all levels of staff and patients
  • Ability to work as part of a multidisciplinary team
  • Interest in and knowledge of clinical audit
  • Evidence of taking part in postgraduate training in Obstetrics and Gynaecology
  • Experience of appraisal and assessment
Knowledge and Expertise

The ideal candidate will have:

  • Understanding of clinical governance (including clinical risk management & audit)
  • Evidence based medical practice
  • Evidence of guideline practice
Management and Organisation

The ideal candidate will have:

  • Basic management skills
  • Organisational skills
  • Basic understanding of financial regulations
  • Understanding good record keeping
