Position Overview

The Infrastructure Systems Supervisor will oversee the comprehensive management and operational efficiency of the Systems Infrastructure and Operations teams, along with the Principal Systems Engineers.

This role ensures that the Head of Technical Services is kept apprised of the operational capacity and functionality of the server environment, aligning with the organization's strategic, financial, and operational objectives. Responsibilities include report generation, metrics analysis, and the establishment of ITIL-based workflows, encompassing business continuity, disaster recovery, risk management, change advisory, and problem oversight across various infrastructure initiatives.

Key Responsibilities

- Lead the Systems Engineers and Principal Engineers, coordinating the design, development, support, maintenance, and continuous enhancement of the systems infrastructure. Ensure that all services and processes are efficient, effective, and adhere to established service levels.

- Analyze and resolve complex queries and issues related to the computer server system infrastructure, often in unprecedented situations, collaborating with team leads as necessary.

- Generate regular reports for the Head of Technical Services and other stakeholders, reviewing metrics for trends that may indicate emerging issues, assist in capacity planning, and identify cost-saving opportunities.

- Provide comprehensive evidence for audits related to IT services.

- Act as the registered System Manager for all systems-related tools and information systems, ensuring they are current and fit for purpose, while maintaining an up-to-date System Level Security Policy.

- Collaborate with contracted suppliers to ensure the provision of required technical solutions and assist with system upgrades.

- Position technology as a facilitator of business strategy, driving operational efficiency through regular capacity planning reviews and the evaluation of emerging technologies.

- Ensure maximum availability of the computer server system infrastructure, including involvement in disaster recovery planning and implementation.

Human Resource Management

- Serve as the departmental line manager for technical staff, addressing performance and disciplinary matters.

- Manage day-to-day operations of team leads and Principal Engineers, including task distribution, attendance management, and professional development.

- Contribute to the performance evaluation of team members through regular assessments and development discussions.

Communication and Collaboration

- Maintain effective working relationships with key stakeholders, communicating complex issues clearly and negotiating priorities on IT developments.

- Represent the interests of the Systems Operations and Infrastructure teams in meetings with stakeholders at various levels.

Strategic Input

- Implement policies and procedures within the department, proposing changes that may impact broader organizational areas.

- Assist in business planning for capital and revenue expenditures by recommending suitable products and technologies, while highlighting potential cost pressures.
