About the Role

The Corporate Social Responsibility Specialist will play a key role in supporting the CSR Manager in delivering the various programs that sit within the CSR strategy for SMBC Group EMEA.

This is an enterprise-wide role to enhance employee engagement, improve our colleagues' volunteering experience, and increase levels of employee giving, thereby allowing the organization to make a more holistic contribution to society, in line with our mission, sustainability, and culture statements.

Key Responsibilities
  • Employee Volunteering and Fundraising:
    • Deliver our established volunteering offer for colleagues to take advantage of the 6-days paid leave volunteering policy. This includes monitoring requests, being the liaison between our colleagues and our volunteering partner, stewarding colleagues, and ensuring volunteer hours are recorded.
    • Support with administration for the BOOST program, including supporting with event invitations and registrations, making room and catering bookings, and ensuring colleagues are logging volunteering hours.
    • Support the CSR manager on a small Charity of the Year program in a select number of EMEA locations; this includes promoting agreed fundraising events, supporting with event logistics, sharing fundraising support materials, tracking fundraising totals, and thanking colleagues who take part.
    • Support the set-up and delivery of any emergency relief appeals that the bank chooses to run, combining corporate giving with employee fundraising.
    • Support on delivery of any joint CSR events with the DRIVE networks and BI Sports & Social Committees.
    • Support with reporting on employee, corporate, and matched giving and volunteering days.
  • Corporate Memberships:
    • Support with events organized with our Corporate Membership organizations (Royal Academy of Arts, Japan House, and Japan Society), and cascade exhibition information to colleagues to maximize engagement.
    • Be responsible for invoices, payment requests, and contract administration for our corporate membership partners.
  • Communications:
    • Oversee CSR inbox and be an additional point of contact for general enquiries.
    • Help to maintain CSR Hub on SMBC's intranet and create content to celebrate the successes of our CSR programs, both internal and external (via LinkedIn and the EMEA website).
    Requirements
    • Previous experience in a CSR or charity role is preferred.
    • Candidates with broader experience in a professional services firm, looking to move into a comms or CSR role, will also be considered.
    • Experience in administration and customer service is desirable, as is good attention to detail.
    • Highly competent, working collaboratively as part of a team and/or taking a meaningful role within specific projects and work streams.
    • A deft communicator, both verbally and in writing, ensuring all CSR content is impactful, logically structured, and aligned to SMBC Group's brand and values.
    • This is a multi-disciplined role within the STPD-Comms and CSR function, which is relatively newly formed and is growing quickly. The team remains small, so agility, flexibility, and a 'can-do' mindset are critical for success.
