Job Summary
VIA is seeking a dedicated and compassionate Volunteer Recovery Practitioner to join our team in Merton. As a key member of our services, you will play a vital role in supporting individuals struggling with drug and alcohol issues.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide harm reduction advice and support to service users, including overdose prevention, safer injecting practices, and safer sex education.
- Assist with the Capital Card reward scheme, promoting positive behavior and encouraging service users to engage with our services.
- Support practitioners with caseloads, working one-to-one with service users and co-facilitating groups to promote recovery and well-being.
- Help service users access wider services, including completing referrals to onward agencies and providing information on available resources.
- Participate in team meetings and contribute to the development of our services, ensuring that the needs of our service users are met.
Requirements
- Passion for working in the drug and alcohol sector, with a non-judgmental and supportive approach to service users.
- Ability to work flexibly, including occasional evenings and weekends.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build rapport with service users and colleagues.
- Knowledge of harm reduction practices and recovery principles, with a commitment to ongoing learning and development.
