Building Safety Manager

We are seeking a highly skilled Building Safety Manager to join our Building Safety Services team, covering the Midlands and North West. This role is part of the Building Safety and Compliance Directorate, reporting to a Building Safety Technical Lead.

The successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring residents are safe and feel safe in our high-rise buildings, meeting current and upcoming legislative requirements. Key responsibilities include:

  • Leading on the production, updating, and submission of the safety case report
  • Visiting sites across the West Midlands and North West to ensure compliance with building regulations and safety standards
  • Working with contractors and stakeholders to understand building systems and ensure they are designed and maintained to ensure resident safety
  • Engaging with residents and staff to promote safety and well-being
  • Providing accurate and timely information, advice, and guidance to internal and external stakeholders
  • Monitoring risks and remedial actions on higher-risk buildings and escalating concerns when necessary

The ideal candidate will have:

  • Level 5 or equivalent experience in a subject related to the built environment or safety
  • Professional membership or working towards Chartered status or equivalent
  • Curiosity and willingness to learn from others
  • Robust knowledge of building regulations, legislation, and current practice
  • Excellent interpersonal and customer care skills
  • Good technical report writing skills
