Position Overview

As a vital member of the leisure services team, you will play a key role in delivering high-quality services to the community. Your responsibilities will include ensuring the safety and appropriate conduct of patrons, as well as providing essential lifesaving assistance when required. Additionally, you will be tasked with the setup and takedown of equipment, along with performing general cleaning responsibilities.

Qualifications

Applicants must possess a current RLSS Pool Lifeguard qualification or an equivalent certification, along with prior experience in the leisure sector, whether in public or private settings. Strong communication skills, a solid understanding of customer service principles, and the ability to collaborate effectively within a team are essential. Flexibility to work shifts and irregular hours, including weekends, is also necessary.

Assessment Requirements

Candidates who progress to the interview stage will be required to complete a water competency evaluation, which will include:

  • Swimming specific distances.
  • Executing various contact tows in deep water.
  • Performing arm support and hip support techniques.
  • Conducting under shoulder rescues.
  • Completing two timed swims with a Torpedo Buoy.
  • Demonstrating vice grip and spinal turn tows.
  • Recovering a casualty from the deepest section of the pool and towing them to safety.
  • Exhibiting CPR techniques, treatment for various injuries, and knowledge of first aid and pool lifeguarding protocols.
