Job Description

Job Title: IT Support Engineer (2nd Line)

Location: Staffordshire

MERITUS is working with an expanding industrial consultancy seeking an experienced Windows-focused IT Support Engineer to join their helpdesk engineering team. The successful candidate will provide internal support to employees and external support to customers.

The role involves providing 1st/2nd line IT support to approximately 400 users, working to agreed SLAs to resolve software/hardware issues and escalating to the 3rd line team where necessary. The desktop environment is primarily Windows/Microsoft-based, and the successful candidate will have in-depth experience supporting Windows desktop infrastructure, including Active Directory, Office 365, Windows 10/11, and basic Windows Server/networking fixes.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Providing 1st/2nd line desktop support for Windows technologies (Windows 10/11, Active Directory, Office 365)
  • Working via an ITIL-based ticketing system to agreed SLAs
  • Collaborating with senior engineers to escalate and resolve more complex server issues
  • In-depth experience in 1st/2nd line support of Windows desktop infrastructure (Active Directory, Office 365, Windows 10/11)
  • Basic Windows Server knowledge
  • Exposure to ITIL, certifications a bonus
