Job Title: Commercial Immigration Paralegal
About the Role:
We are seeking a highly motivated and ambitious paralegal to join our team at Expert Law, a leading law firm specializing in immigration and asylum law. As a Commercial Immigration Paralegal, you will play a crucial role in supporting our solicitors in managing a large caseload and providing exceptional client service.
Key Responsibilities:
- Client Enquiries and Casework: Deal with initial client enquiries, manage a large caseload, and convert initial enquiries into potential cases for our solicitors to consider further.
- Information Gathering and Advice: Gather and collate initial information from prospective clients, provide information and advice on immigration and asylum law, and answer client enquiries via phone and video.
- Casework and Administration: Undertake casework and manage a caseload up to a level of OISC competence or law society accreditation, prepare documentation, including letters and other correspondence related to clients' cases.
- Client Support and Communication: Provide clients with information relating to the progress of their existing cases and advice on appropriate laws, policies, and procedures, ensuring details of advice given are documented in attendance notes.
- Administrative Support: Provide casework and administrative support to staff, including taking initial instructions from new clients, drafting statements and other documents for entry clearance/Home Office applications and court hearings, and preparing instructing medical and country experts, assisting with advising clients under supervision.
Requirements:
- Education and Qualifications: Degree level education with a legal background, which could be through legal practice, similar paralegal jobs, or studies, or equivalent, or LLB or law-related degree or OISC qualification equivalent to level 1, 2, or 3.
- Skills and Abilities: Ability to formulate detailed legal representations, work under pressure, meet deadlines, and contract targets, work on own initiative and prioritize work, and have an understanding and sensitivity to other cultures and commitment to equal opportunities.
- Commercial Awareness and IT Skills: Commercial awareness and practical IT skills, strong ethical standards, fantastic team spirit, and a humble and passionate attitude towards the work carried out.
Work Environment:
- Work Schedule: Monday to Friday
- Location: In person
What We Offer:
- Salary: £20,000 - £23,000 depending on experience
- Benefits: 28 days holidays which includes bank holidays, generous contributory pension scheme, flexible working & supportive workplace culture
