Position: Financial Planning Analyst – Corporate Overheads

Location: Hybrid working model

Compensation: £40,000 - £45,000 per annum based on experience

Working Hours: Monday to Friday, 9 AM to 5 PM

Reporting To: Head of Financial Planning and Analysis (FP&A)

Key Responsibilities:

As a Financial Planning Analyst, you will be responsible for delivering high-quality financial analysis and planning to support executive leadership and operational teams in enhancing performance and driving growth.

Financial Performance Analysis:

  • Review monthly financial outcomes prepared by the accounting team, identifying significant variances from budget or forecast and proposing action plans.
  • Serve as a Business Partner for budget holders and senior leaders, offering guidance on financial matters and fostering financial literacy.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders to monitor and analyze Corporate Overhead expenses, ensuring accountability for budget adherence.
  • Work alongside the Business Intelligence team to generate and disseminate financial results and scorecards through automated systems.
  • Establish appropriate financial KPIs for the division and ensure accurate reporting, highlighting key trends to facilitate informed decision-making.
  • Communicate performance insights effectively, challenging budget holders and promoting accountability within the organization.
  • Lead financial evaluations of ad-hoc projects and conduct analyses as requested by senior management.

Budgeting and Forecasting:

  • Oversee the budgeting process for operating cost centers related to Corporate Overheads, ensuring alignment with Group timelines and analytical standards.
  • Maintain a consistent budget and forecast financial model, ensuring data integrity and process uniformity across all areas.
  • Assist the Head of FP&A and the Business Intelligence team in implementing automated budgeting and modeling tools.

Leadership and Team Management:

  • Promote a positive and professional atmosphere within the Finance team through exemplary conduct and encouragement.

Customer Engagement:

  • Develop strong relationships with senior leaders and operational teams, acting as the primary contact for finance-related inquiries.
  • Exhibit strong financial business partnering capabilities by delivering timely monthly reports and scorecards.
  • Provide training and support to enhance financial awareness among key senior leaders in operational teams.

Qualifications and Skills:

Essential:

  • Currently pursuing a relevant accounting qualification (CIMA / ACCA / ACA, etc.) or possess significant relevant experience.
  • A degree in Accounting, Finance, Mathematics, or a related field.
  • Demonstrated ability to influence financial outcomes and collaborate effectively with operational managers.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, capable of building relationships across various organizational levels.
  • Advanced proficiency in Excel for data manipulation, analysis, and presentation suitable for executive review.
  • Ability to convey complex data and analyses visually to senior stakeholders, emphasizing key insights.
  • Relevant experience in management accounting.
  • Familiarity with MS Office, including Microsoft PowerPoint.
  • Experience with Access Dimensions is a plus, though not mandatory.
